Set up Citi transaction alerts

  1. Sign in to Citi

    Open citi.com (opens in a new tab) and log in to your account.

  2. Open Account Alerts

    Go to Profile → Account Alerts. Check that you’re setting up alerts for the credit card you want to track.

  3. Open your spending alert settings

    In the Spending section, select Manage Spending Alerts to edit Transaction Amount Exceeds.

    Select Manage Spending Alerts to change your purchase email settings.
  4. Turn on purchase emails

    Under Transaction Amount Exceeds, check your email address and set Amount to 0.01. Click Save. This requests emails for purchases above one cent.

    Select your email, enter 0.01, then save your settings.
  5. Open your credit alert settings

    Back on the Account Alerts page, find Account Activity. Select Manage Account Activity Alerts to edit Merchant Credit Posted.

    Select Manage Account Activity Alerts to set up refund emails.
  6. Turn on refund emails and save

    Under Merchant Credit Posted, check your email address, then click Save. Meli can automatically import these refund emails, so you can see money coming back without entering it yourself.

    Select your email and save. Repeat the setup for each Citi card you want to track.

Citi will now email you about purchases and credits. Connect your inbox to Meli to automatically import and categorize your spending.

Common questions

How do I get Citi email alerts for small purchases?

Open Account Alerts → Manage Spending Alerts. Under Transaction Amount Exceeds, check your email address, set Amount to 0.01, and save. This requests emails for purchases above one cent.

How do I receive Citi refund alerts?

In Account Alerts, select Manage Account Activity Alerts. Check your email under Merchant Credit Posted, then save. This enables emails about merchant credits, including refunds.

Why am I not receiving Citi transaction alerts?

Check the selected card, purchase threshold, and email checkboxes. Make sure you saved both the spending and account activity settings. Confirm your email address and check your spam folder. If alerts still do not arrive, contact Citi through its website or app.

Do I need to enable alerts for each card?

Repeat the purchase and merchant credit email settings for each Citi card you want to track.

Do I need Meli to receive Citi alerts?

No. Citi sends the emails directly to you. Connect that inbox to Meli if you’d like supported alerts to automatically become organized spending and refund records on your Mac.
